Rounding involves looking at the digit immediately to the right of the place you want to round to. If that digit is 5 or greater, you round up the digit in the target place. If it's less than 5, you keep the digit in the target place as it is (round down).
Let's say you need to round the number 123.4567 to two decimal places. You look at the third decimal place, which is 6. Since 6 is 5 or greater, you round up the second decimal place (5) to 6. So, 123.4567 rounded to two decimal places becomes 123.46.
The basic rule is to look at the digit immediately to the right of the place you're rounding to. If it's 5 or greater, round up the digit in your target place. If it's less than 5, keep the digit in your target place the same (round down).
To round to the nearest whole number, you set the 'Decimal Places' input to 0. The calculator will then look at the first digit after the decimal point to decide whether to round up or down.
