The Formula
Mifflin-St Jeor Equation:
Men: BMR = (10 × weight in kg) + (6.25 × height in cm) - (5 × age in years) + 5
Women: BMR = (10 × weight in kg) + (6.25 × height in cm) - (5 × age in years) - 161 Harris-Benedict Equation (Revised 1984):
Men: BMR = (13.397 × weight in kg) + (4.799 × height in cm) - (5.677 × age in years) + 88.362
Women: BMR = (9.247 × weight in kg) + (3.098 × height in cm) - (4.330 × age in years) + 447.593

Using the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation: BMR = (10 × 60) + (6.25 × 165) - (5 × 30) - 161 BMR = 600 + 1031.25 - 150 - 161 BMR = 1320.25 calories/day Using the Harris-Benedict Equation: BMR = (9.247 × 60) + (3.098 × 165) - (4.330 × 30) + 447.593 BMR = 554.82 + 511.17 - 129.9 + 447.593 BMR = 1383.683 calories/day This shows her estimated daily calorie burn at rest.
